Estimation of Aortic Regurgitation by Diastolic Pulse Wave Analysis
نویسنده
چکیده
To test the hypothesis that the fall in supravalvular aortic diastolic pressure is relative to the severity of the regurgitant flow in aortic regurgitation, 27 patients with isolated aortic regurgitation, 23 patients with combined aortic regurgitation and stenosis, and 15 normal subjects were studied. Diastolic pulse pressure (pressure at the dicrotic notch minus pressure at end diastole) and the diastolic slope (line constructed through the dicrotic notch and end diastole) were measured. A highly significant correlation was found between the regurgitant flow in isolated aortic regurgitation and the diastolic pulse pressure when corrected for heart rate (r = 0.82, P <0.001). The diastolic slope related similarly to the regurgitant flow (r = 0.71, P < 0.001). There was no significant relationship, however, in the presence of combined aortic stenosis and regurgitation. Aortic pressure at end diastole and pulse pressure correlated poorly with either isolated aortic regurgitation or combined aortic valve disease. An electrical analog circuit was used to help explain these findings.

متن کاملComparison of Different Invasive Hemodynamic Measurements as a Prediction Tool for Mortality after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement in Men: A Retrospective Observational Study
INTRODUCTION Hemodynamic measurements can assess for paravalvular aortic regurgitation after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). This study compared the utility of different invasive hemodynamic measures in providing prognostic information. METHODS This retrospective observational study of TAVR patients at a Veterans Hospital assessed aortic regurgitation index, diastolic delta, pu...
متن کاملHow to Diagnose Aortic and Mitral Regurgitation in Older Horses: A Case-Based Approach
The identification and interpretation of equine murmurs can be improved. In older horses, the two common degenerative valvular conditions are mitral and aortic regurgitation, which occur with approximate equal frequency. Mitral regurgitation produces a systolic murmur. These are often blowing in character. If the murmur occupies all of systole the pulse wave in a peripheral artery can be palpat...
متن کاملQuantitative assessment of the hemodynamic consequences of aortic regurgitation by means of continuous wave Doppler recordings.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability of continuous wave Doppler ultrasound recordings to reflect the magnitude and hemodynamic effects of aortic regurgitation. Forty-five patients with angiographically proved aortic regurgitation had Doppler studies performed within 24 hours of cardiac catheterization. High quality spectral recordings of the regurgitant jet were obtained in 31 ...
متن کاملDescending Aorta Diastolic Retrograde Flow Assessment for Aortic Regurgitation Quantification
Background: Diastolic retrograde flow in the descending aorta has been associated to the severity of aortic regurgitation; however, most of the parameters related to flow velocity are not validated with a reference imaging technique. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the usefulness of diastolic retrograde flow in the descending thoracic aorta and the abdominal aorta in the quantifi...
